Satire

People like satire so much because it’s real.  Real and serious social issues are brought up in movies like Borat.  While sitting back watching the movie, it’s interesting to see how the “actors” react to certain situations.  At the same time, it’s also interesting to see how the movie-goers react to whats happening on the screen.  People are so interested in satire because everyone contributes to it.  In some way or another, you are apart of what makes satire.  It’s bearable to watch because it’s funny and doesn’t always appear serious at first glance, but the underlying message is there and available for the audience to learn from.

I agree. The viewers will learn a lot by watching or reading satire. They will get a sence that something abstract in society is wrong.

The audience will learn a lot from reading and watching satire because people usually are not aware of the fact that something is wrong.

Is satire really for people to learn from? I mean, do people really leave a movie like Boart, and say to themselves “Hm. Now that I’ve seen that movie, I should try to reform my evil ways.” No, I think that satire is just a way for people to look at a situation, and excaberate the social norms to a degree where it provides humor. Not really a lesson to be learned.
